Is your spirit needing some love and care? Mine is. I came here tonight with so many words in my heart, not knowing exactly what I was going to focus on or write about, but what I feel the most inspired to say is: be kind to yourself. If you are reading these words, I want to encourage you to do something kind for yourself every day this week. The things you choose can be seemingly small and simple, but do something.
Make yourself a cup of tea, and then quietly stare into the mug and don’t rush yourself while you drink it. Put on a clay mask and jammies, and watch a funny movie. Take a step towards reducing stress, and simplify your schedule if you feel the need to. Go on a walk in nature and listen to the birds. Place a vase of flowers where you will look at them everyday. Go to that yoga class you’ve been wanting to, or turn on some music you love and dance your heart out in the living room. Get out your pens and paper, or some paints.
Sing while you do the dishes, and then take the time to make yourself a delicious snack. Call people you love and leave them funny messages (silly voices are awesome.) Light a candle. Take a bath (and stay in there as long as you want to.) Lay in a hammock and read a book (guilt-free.) Go on an adventure to a favorite place, or to somewhere you’ve never been before. Drive a different route than you normally take. Detach from screen time and connect with those around you. Take a deep breath, and then gently remind yourself to breathe deeply whenever it comes to mind. Watch honeybees in the garden with the wonder of a child. Do something you’ve always wanted to.
Only you know what relaxes you most and what brings you joy. Whatever those things are- do them more often, starting this week! What are your favorite things to do when you want to be kind to yourself? Please share in the comments, to inspire us all to be more kind to ourselves.

Just what I needed to hear, thank you. I had actually set today aside as a self care day and then felt guilty and worked on my to do list instead! Next time I’ll make it happen. I think I’ll put this quote about the importance of self care up somewhere “Give the best of yourself not what’s left”.

Thank you for the timely reminder, you have no idea how much I needed to read your words today! I am recovering from a protracted illness in addition to caring for family members and in the middles of an upcoming house move! Today has been a really stressful day and so I am going to pick up my needles after leaving this message and sit in the sunshine at the bottom of the garden.
Bless you

Thank you for your inspiring words. It’s too easy to get caught up in being a mom, wife, teacher, etc. and forget about myself. I’m going to get my hair trimmed this week. Always gives me a fresh outlook on things.
