Family came to visit over the weekend and it was such a gift. Time with people you love and time at the ocean is good for the soul! We hadn’t been to the beach in far too long, and we also made it to the river for the first time this year. To say the boy was overjoyed would be an understatement- he just loves spending time with his grandparents, and going to some of his very favorite places with them was the best. Net in hand, he had plenty of tadpoles to bring home, which was one of his goals.
We had fun, played, relaxed, ate some delicious meals (Jeff loves feeding people, it’s one of his favorite things) and also got a lot done while they were here. My dad and stepmom rented a u-haul (bless their hearts!) and brought us some furniture, which kept us busy getting it all set up and put into place. My stepmom lost her stepfather and her mother at the end of last year, and then this year her father passed away. It still feels surreal to me that they are gone. I miss them all… and now when I look around our home at a desk, or a dresser, or a chair… it warms my heart with memories of them and that feels like a gift in our house. Those things will also make me think of the fun weekend we spent with my dad and stepmom setting it all up. I’m grateful.
We’re getting some sunshine and it’s finally starting to feel like summer here, though the nights have been so cold. I hope you all have been able to soak up some summer, what have you been up to? I had more I was going to write about, but I’m feeling very ready for bed after a full day, so I’ll say goodnight. Take care, friends.
