We trade with a friend when she has surplus in her garden, and last weekend we set to work processing three boxes of pears we got from her. Jeff and I both wanted to do a canning project, but with such a huge list of things we wanted to accomplish over the weekend, we decided to give ourselves a break and we froze them instead. We cut the pears up and then spread them on baking trays to freeze, before putting them in freezer bags, so they wouldn’t all stick together. I’ve been making smoothies regularly and frozen pears are a delicious addition.
This weekend Jeff and I have been busy preparing for our next fiber festival. And today we have things to pick up around the yard to prepare for rain. Bracken’s weekend happenings are far more interesting right now, since he has been busy with our new pet! I’ll share more about that soon. In the meantime, did any of you do anything kind for yourself last week? How about every day? I loved every message you sent, by the way.
Our week was so busy, and felt like a whirlwind most of the time, but I did do kind things for myself throughout the week. I took something off my to-do list that had been hanging over me and causing me a huge amount of stress. I was so relieved when I did, that I wondered why I hadn’t done it sooner. I walked more each day. I went to bed earlier every night, which was a huge kindness to myself. I woke up extra early one morning and cleaned up my work area (something I had been wanting to do for so long), which made for such a better space for getting packages together for mailing out orders. Simple things can make a big difference.
Let’s continue that kindness towards ourselves, shall we? The more we do, the more it becomes a habit. And that kindness sure goes a long way towards regenerating our spirits when we’re feeling ourselves running low.

Taryn; NaturallyElla.com, in the latest posting, has a recipe for a Pear Custard Tart with cinnamon. There is also a listing of several other yummy pear recipes in the same post. Thought you might enjoy reading through them. Also, thank you for your kindness posts. A much needed reminder these days. Wishing you and your family much love and good thoughts-♥️

Thanks for the suggestion! I always love when you share recipes with me. We finished with the pears before I saw your comment. We didn’t freeze all of them though. Jeff made some pear sauce (like apple sauce) and I made muffins with them and they turned out amazing. 🙂
