In the last post I told you the exciting news- baby goats! I also promised more pictures, so here they are. Triplets! Our sweet honey-colored mama Oak had not one, not two, but three kids. She was so large during her pregnancy, that we all guessed she would have at least two. Oak had one daughter with her first kidding, we purchased the two of them together. This was her second kidding. We already knew she was a good mama, seeing her with her daughter, then she had three and she was a total natural.
With the triplets, we were amazed at how different each one looked! Such variety.
First came the little boy- all brown and black. We were told his coloring was called chamoisee. (I just looked up Nigerian Dwarf goat colors- here is a good reference.) He was the smallest of the three, and also a total snuggler from the start, completely content to be cuddled in your arms or take a nap on you. B named him Boots, it suits him well.
The second kid to be born was white. That coloring took me by complete surprise. A girl, and I think she looks like a little lamb! B named her Aspen. (Oak’s mom is named Aspen, so we’re saying she named her first daughter in honor of her mama.) She has a gentleness about her, she is so darling.
The third kid to be born was all different colors. She looks a lot like her papa, and was the largest of the three. At first she seemed like the shyest of the bunch to me, but Jeff had her pegged right away. She has turned out to be the most active, outgoing little thing and always on the move. Jeff named her Vivian.
Vivian and Aspen are two peas in pod, those sisters. Vivian is the first to do all the tricks (she has amazing balancing skills) and Aspen goes around copying everything she does. Boots follows behind and plays with them, doing some tricks here and there if he feels like it. They are all so precious, and we adore them.

There is always plenty of bad news in the world, and sharing these pictures with you of pure joy- it feels like something we could all use more of. I hope you come away from this space today with your heart a little lighter, and a smile on your face. That’s how I feel every time after visiting the goats, and I hope to share that with you.
