Throughout the week I’ve felt grateful for:
…Visiting the tiny pots in our faery garden that we planted with moss over the summer and seeing some still there. (We got all inspired about moss gardens after watching this episode of a favorite show of ours.)
.
…Hearing Bracken talking to the bird that lives on our front porch. And then coming and telling me that he needed to build a nest for it so it could lay its eggs there.
.
…Sewing buttons on a finished knitting project. Sewing on buttons is my very favorite part and feels so satisfying as I’m finishing something up.
.
…House filled with wood, woodshed filled with wood. (And the firewood being so full of sap, which smells soooo good.)
.
…Trying a new recipe from Cooking with Coconut Oil called Mashed Fauxtatoes. I steamed celery root for the first time, blended it up, and it was delicious.
.
…The questions that Bracken asks me. A few days ago it was: “Mom, do Angels wear backpacks?”
.
…Being able to look up directions on the phone my Dad and stepmom passed along to us, which saved me one evening when my directions I had brought along were terrible and I couldn’t find the place we were going to. Especially thankful for technology that evening!
.
…Jeff being the one to close the door to the chicken coop at night. (Since there is a bat living by there that flies too closely whenever we close the door.)
.
…Deciding to skip my dinner plans and just have us all eat leftovers instead. It was a good decision that night and I sighed with relief.
.
…Reading to Bracken and Jeff from the Laura Ingalls Wilder books before bed. It’s my favorite thing to do before bed, for us to enjoy those stories together that we all love so much.
.
…Still moving along on our downsizing/organizing/cleaning up mission around here. And Jeff making me the perfect wooden shelf that I needed to organize my space.
.
…Our friends driving so far to come visit us. And how much more fun dark, rainy days feel when they are spent with friends.
.
…A dear friend having her baby girl!! I’ve been thinking about her every day, wondering when baby would come, and am so happy for their sweet family.
