We did a lot in those few days that my mom and her boyfriend were visiting. We ate some delicious seafood at the coast (finally checking out Homegrown after so many friends told me to. They were right: some very good food!) And of course, we went to the beach. I think it’s safe to say that we go to the ocean every time my mom visits. I’m trying to think of a time she’s visited that we haven’t gone to the ocean and I can’t think of one. Not that it hasn’t happened, but it would be a rare occurrence to be sure.
One day while they were here the weather at the coast was just gorgeous and we went to two beaches. The first one had more driftwood there than I had ever seen before and it also had more forts than ever before. Usually we find a few good forts there, but this time they were everywhere, in all different sizes and styles. Driftwood forts are so fun. (More accurately said: forts are so fun.) We saw sea lions that day and we also saw a whale! I felt lucky that we were at the right place at the right time to spot that whale. Visits with my mom never feel long enough, but I’m so grateful for that time.
