On Monday Jeff and I celebrated our 8 year wedding anniversary. It also happened to be the day we were able to get an appointment to get the windshield on our car fixed. (We joked- I know how we should celebrate our anniversary- let’s go get our windshield fixed!) What started as a small crack from a rock became a large crack that needed to be fixed. We were told it would take four hours to replace our windshield and that’s an awfully long time to wait in town without a vehicle to go anywhere or run any errands. Luckily our friend came and picked us up though, and we happened upon the most beautiful beach day. The weather was gorgeous and I think it’s safe to say that being at the beach that day was exactly what we all needed.
When I put my feet in the ocean, it felt much warmer than I’d expected. It wasn’t too windy and the sand was so warm, we just wanted to lounge in it. Jeff actually did fall asleep laying in the sand for a few minutes. Sometimes when we get away from home, away from work of any kind, he relaxes so much… he takes a mini beach nap. After the colder, rainy weekend we’d had at our house, that beach day felt so warming and blissful. When we picked up our car, the new windshield was so clean and clear. It felt like we saw the world with a fresh perspective out that window and the beautiful views as we drove up the coast looked even more beautiful through it.
We did something special to celebrate and drove up to Yachats to eat a late lunch/early dinner. Afterwards we went to Yachats Brewing to get some kombucha and saw that they are now a restaurant! We have plans to eat there next time we go to Yachats. We walked to a few shops and were told about a treehouse at the playground we must visit, which we did as we lingered a bit longer in that warm coast day. We drove home with full bellies, sun kissed cheeks, and that feeling of being refreshed from time at the beach. It was a good day. And when we got home that night, my toes were still sandy and I savored that feeling, wanting it to last as long as it could.
P.S. I didn’t take many pictures that day, but I did snap a picture of my knitting. I’ve been wanting to knit a particular pattern for a few years now and have had a heck of a time getting gauge with any of the yarn I want to use. But I’m proud of myself for knitting gauge swatches because I hardly ever do!
