I’ve been meaning to share these fun little mitts I knit up. I wanted to knit something for my friend for her birthday and decided some cozy mitts were just the thing. I had some beautiful blue yarn in my stash (silk & wool) that was so soft and felt simply luxurious. It immediately made me think of her and I thought that silky yarn would be something she would appreciate warming up with this winter. I knew I wouldn’t have enough of that blue yarn for the entire mitts, though. I had the idea to do the mitts in two different colors, and paired that blue yarn with some handspun alpaca I also had in my stash. I thought having the two colors was really fun and loved the look that the thicker grey yarn gave the border of the mitts.
The pattern is called Peekaboo Mitts by Abi Gregorio and is a free pattern on Ravelry. (My Ravelry notes are here.) I thought I would have plenty of both the blue and grey yarn to finish the project, but I was sweating it near the end because I started running out of the grey yarn.. The great thing about using up your stash yarn is that you can save money, and be very thrifty in your gift giving, while making someone a lovely, heartfelt gift at the same time. The downside is that with only a bit of each yarn, it can be hard to tell if you will have enough for a project. Luckily, this time I had just enough to finish the mitts! Jeff took a few pictures of me wearing them before I gave them to my friend.
Jeff and Bracken both put in requests for me to knit them some mitts after seeing these. And these mitts felt so nice when I wore them for the pictures, I might just want a pair myself. I have a feeling I will be knitting this pattern again in the near future!

These ‘knitted mitts’ look like they were ~very well planned out~ in balanced color choice! I LIKE them!
