Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! It’s a good reminder for us to tell the people we love, that we love them today. Sometimes we just expect people to know and don’t say it often enough, so how about telling those we love how much we appreciate them and how grateful we are to have them in our lives? I’d like to tell you how much I appreciate you visiting this space and reading these words, and how much I love the thoughtful comments you leave full of support and encouragement. Truly, thank you. I’m taking a break from posts about our trip (there’s still one more Florida adventure to share with you!) because I’ve been wanting to share a handknit I finished up over the summer and thought today would be the perfect day to share it. 

My best friend in high school had a baby girl, and they named her Valentine. (Isn’t that such a sweet name?) As soon as I knew her name, I decided her little pink booties needed heart buttons, and Jeff made some specially in red cedar wood for me to sew on them. The yarn is Malabrigo Yarn Dos (discontinued now), naturally dyed pure baby merino. The yarn was a gift years ago and I’ve made quite a few pairs of baby shoes out of that single small skein, loving how soft it feels and how pretty the subtle color looks. I’ve knit the pattern (Keelan- Chunky Strap Baby Shoes) many times now because I can’t get over how adorable the little shoes turn out. Choosing buttons is always so fun because of how much it changes the whole look, but this time there was no deciding between different woods or different designs, the carved hearts it was!

As I finally hit the publish button on this post, it’s not in the morning (as I intended), but the end of the day. So I’ll be wishing you a Happy Valentine’s Day now that it’s almost over. 🙂
