A few winter knitting projects… baby hats. The first was a hat for my nephew born in December. I knit him a little hat with two strands of handspun angora yarn, and it was so heavenly soft. How to even describe how soft that yarn is? Hmm…. It felt like what I would imagine knitting with fluffy angel feathers would feel like. That’s really the only way I can think to describe it. I rubbed the finished hat against my cheek, and then simply couldn’t wait for my sister and brother-in-law to get it in the mail so they could feel it too.
The next two hats I knit were for friends of ours, sisters, who were pregnant at the same time. I wanted to knit matching hats for their babies. I found this soft blue color when picking out yarn for the project at Cozy. The yarn is Blue Sky Woolstok Worsted, and as soon as I saw it I thought it would be the perfect yarn for baby hats. Rather than make up the pattern like I did with the first hat, I followed the pattern for Magic Coffee Baby Hat, leaving out the stripes and the loop at the top.
It’s nice to have little knitting projects, it feels satisfying to finish them so quickly. Plus, I love knitting for babies… and cozy baby hats are such a wonderful thing to have in the wintertime.

Its been a month since we heard from you and I’m a bit worried. The last we heard, Jeff had been very ill and I pray all is right with him now. You have my prayers and worries (as any decent Gramma would say – and wish for you). Please find the time to just do a short note to let us all know how things are with Jeff and you and B. I usually go to Mossy Roots to find the balance in my life, your photographs, your quiet, peaceful “mom-ness” are such an inspiration to me. Praying for everyone’s health and peace. Hugs.

Beautiful hats, Taryn, and I’m sure both the parents and babies will love them! I would just like to thank you for your blog. It is such a welcome respite from the chaos of the world. When I feel exhausted by the news and politics, I always end up at your blog and find it so peaceful. Thank you.
