We were busy with birthday celebrations over the weekend, but I have yet to sort through the many pictures I took, so I’m sharing another knitting project I finished up over the summer. Remember that pretty, light pink yarn in those beach pictures over the winter? After using it for the purl ridges and pom pom in that first hat, I saved the rest of the yarn for a hat for the younger sister. She has one of the sweetest, gentlest spirits I know and this yarn had a hue so subtle and gentle, it felt meant for her. Not only do I adore the color (the colorway is called “Exhale”, perfectly named I think), but the yarn from Mosaic Moon is so soft with the merino wool and silk.

The pattern is Clover by Susan B. Anderson. It’s such a lovely pattern! When I first saw the pattern for this hat, I was so taken by the pretty texture, I think it’s just beautiful. Susan is offering this pattern for free, by the way, for all you knitters out there. The finishing touch on this hat was the incredibly soft alpaca pom pom (in the color cream) that I ordered from Tolt Yarn and Wool. Adding it felt like the icing on the hat cake. I couldn’t get over how soft if felt. I have another one in a different color that I’m saving for a special project.

I didn’t really get the best pictures of the finished hat (“What if I put it on this bamboo post? eh…doesn’t show it well enough… What if I hang it in the apple tree?…doesn’t hang right. What if I put it over on that log? …the color isn’t showing up over there. We need to get going… oh well, those pictures will work.”), but I was so pleased with how it turned out- not only pretty, but so soft and snuggly!

P.S. I included that first picture of some flowers (not remembering what they’re called) blooming in the yard over the summer because I love when I see flowers that match my knitting project.
